Member Care

The Member Care Department ministers to, cares for, attends to, protects, values, and esteems its members. This section of our website has been designed specifically for our members as a valuable resource for our local church family. Here you will find pertinent information about the member services we provide.

The Member Care Department aims to meet the needs of our members. We are here to serve you. We welcome your feedback, comments, or suggestions.

The Member Care Department provides the following member services:

Active Duty Soldier & College Student Care Packages:
We provide ministry to our Active Duty Soldiers and College Students while they are away from home. As an expression of love to our members, we send out monthly care packages as a means to encourage, bless, and minister to them, as well as to keep them connected to their Living Word Christian Center family.

Baby Dedications:
We dedicate babies to the Lord, according to Matthew 19:14: But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children” (New Living Translation). We assist in coordinating the time, date and location of the occasion, as well as facilitate the flow of service. Requests for baby dedications must be received at least one month in advance of the desired date. Baby dedications are administered once a month during Sunday service (11:15am only), and are extended to members with children (ages 0 – 2 years).

Altar ministers are available to pray for families who want their children dedicated, but may not be members of Living Word Christian Center.

Benevolence:
We may provide assistance during a time of hardship; however, assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis for members (or others), who are experiencing a time of great financial lack or facing a homeless situation. Individuals requesting benevolence must complete an application, along with a screening process, to determine the need and if the church is able to assist in fulfilling the need.

Bereavement / Comfort:
We assist members (and their families) during this transitional period by extending our prayers, compassion, love, support, and aid after the loss of a loved one (i.e., spouse, child or parent). We help to facilitate the on-site (i.e., at Living Word Christian Center) home-going service and/or repast, as well as secure the officiating minister.

Home-going services may be officiated by Pastor Winston, the Assistant Pastor, or another officiating minister, based on availability. *For off-site home-going services, an officiating minister may be requested, based on their availability.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. …Wherefore comfort one another with these words (I Thessalonians 4:13-14, 18).

Car Donations:
We receive and process applications for members desiring to donate or request donated vehicles.

General Information & Inquiries:
For general information and inquiries about ministry events, opportunities, membership, etc., please contact Member Care at (708) 697-6190. Hours of Operation: 9am – 5pm (Mon. – Fri.)

(*Member Care phone lines are open until 6pm on Wed. and 7pm M, T, TH, Fri.)

Hospital / Hospice Visits:
When a member is hospitalized or in need of a hospice visit we will provide prayer and send a minister of Living Word Christian Center to visit the member or his/her loved one (family member), as requested and if appropriate.

Lost & Found:
Lost and found items may be turned in to the information booths located in the Gallery and Mall areas or given to an usher. We will attempt to contact the owner if an item is identifiable. Items are held for a period of 45 days; after that time LWCC reserves the right to donate or dispose of the item as appropriate.

To reclaim a lost item contact Member Care at (708) 697-6190.

New Believers:
Our passion and goal is to ensure that New Believers have a firm foundation in which to build upon and that they are established in the Word of God so they can grow and experience a life of victory in Christ Jesus. We serve as a bridge to connect New Believers to the spiritual resources that are available to them at Living Word Christian Center. New Believers are encouraged to participate in Foundation Classes as the first step in this process.

Silver Saints:
We coordinate and oversee events designed especially for senior saints ages 62 and up.

Special Projects and Initiatives:
As specific needs arise, we assist with planning, facilitating and executing special projects and initiatives for the Living Word family in an effort to meet the needs of the congregation.

Spiritual Guidance:
As a resource to the Body of Christ, spiritual guidance is available (by appointment) to members. Our role is to oversee the daily operations of the spiritual guidance center, as well as schedule these appointments with a minister serving in Pastoral Care.

Visitor Care:
We are available to welcome visitors, offer prayer support, and answer questions, etc., in an effort to make your visit with us a positive worship experience. A warm seat of welcome awaits your arrival here at Living Word Christian Center.

We invite you to visit our Member Care booths (on Sundays) located in the Gallery and Fellowship Hall areas.

Weddings:
Member Care works closely with the Wedding Ministry to assist members with their wedding plans. Our wedding ministry will work with you and your wedding planner to ensure that your wedding activities flow in accordance with our ministry guidelines. We desire to make every ceremony a memorable and beautiful worship experience that the couple will remember for a lifetime.

**Very important note regarding weddings**

Couples desiring to be wed at Living Word Christian Center must participate in a 5-week pre-marital class before any dates can be confirmed. Membership is not required to attend the class but if you desire for LWCC to participate in your wedding ceremony, at least one of you must be a member in good standing (consistent tither, regular attendance for at least 6 months, and must have completed Foundation Classes). For more information please call (708) 697-5037.
